I wasn't able to be there for the service appointment, but Ethan and Robert worked directly with my family while I was at work. They quickly diagnosed and fixed our furnace issue, and my wife and elderly mother both commented on how professional, respectful, and easy they were to work with.

What actually decides how a furnace installation turns out?

When a furnace is past saving, replacing it is a day of work that you then live with for fifteen or twenty years. What decides how those years go is not mainly which box you buy. It is whether the ductwork it connects to can carry the air, whether the venting is right, and whether the gas and the combustion air were set up correctly.

What is included

What the job actually involves

  • High-efficiency American Standard gas furnaces
  • Old unit disconnected, removed and hauled away
  • Supply and return plenums fabricated to fit, not forced on
  • Existing ductwork inspected, resized or sealed where needed
  • Venting run to spec for the appliance being installed
  • Gas line sizing checked and the connection made properly
  • Condensate drain and neutralizer where the furnace needs one
  • Permitted and inspected work, thermostat set up and tested

The part that matters

The ductwork is the part nobody quotes

A 97% furnace bolted onto undersized return ductwork will underperform a mid-range one on good duct. Static pressure is what actually determines whether the air gets where it is going. We fabricate the transitions to fit the equipment and the house, which is why our furnace photos have new sheet metal in them and not a bag of duct tape.

Repair it or replace it

Not every furnace needs replacing, and we will tell you when yours does not. The honest test is age against the size of the repair. Under ten years old, almost anything is worth fixing. Past fifteen, a repair that runs into four figures is usually money spent on borrowed time.

A cracked heat exchanger is the one that ends the conversation. That is a combustion safety problem, not a comfort problem, and it is a replacement.

The other thing worth weighing is what a failure costs you. A furnace that is limping in October is a scheduled job you control. The same furnace failing in January is an emergency you do not, and this is a market where six competitors run after-hours service and we do not.

What high-efficiency actually changes

A high-efficiency condensing furnace pulls so much heat out of the exhaust that the flue gas condenses, which is why it vents through PVC out a side wall instead of up a metal flue, and why it needs a condensate drain.

That matters practically. If you are switching from an older mid-efficiency unit, the venting has to be redone and the old chimney may end up orphaned, which changes what happens to your water heater venting. It is worth knowing that going in rather than discovering it on install day.

It also means the install has more places to get wrong, and more that has to be inspected. Our work gets permitted and inspected, which is the green tag you will see in one of the photos on this page.

Questions

Furnace Installation questions

How long does a furnace replacement take?
Most straight swaps are a single day. If the ductwork needs reworking, the venting has to change or the gas line needs resizing, it can run into a second day. We will tell you which one yours is before we start, not partway through.
What furnace brands do you install?
American Standard. It is what we fit on most of our furnace jobs and what you will see in our photos.
Is my furnace worth repairing or should I replace it?
Age against repair cost is the honest test. Under ten years, most repairs are worth doing. Past fifteen, a large repair is usually money on borrowed time. A cracked heat exchanger ends the discussion, because that is a combustion safety issue rather than a comfort one.
Do you pull permits?
Yes. Furnace work gets permitted and inspected. One of the photos on this page has the green inspection tag hanging on the unit.

Rather just talk to someone?
