When does the heating system get decided on a new build?
On a new build the heating system gets decided long before anyone turns it on, and the decisions that matter are made when the walls are still open. We design the system off the plans, fabricate the ductwork to fit the house, and install it on your schedule rather than holding up the trades behind us.

The part that matters
Contractors call us because we do not hold up the job
A Missoula electrical contractor wrote publicly that we are the HVAC contractor he recommends to his own clients, that we come in at or under what the customer planned to spend, and that our communication is top notch. That is a competing trade putting his own reputation behind ours, which is about as good as proof gets.
Why the ductwork is the part that matters
On a new build you get one chance to run duct in a straight, adequately sized path before the framing closes. Take it and the system is quiet, balanced and efficient for the life of the house. Miss it and you spend the next twenty years with a bedroom that never gets warm and a return that whistles.
We fabricate to fit the house. That means transitions made for the actual space rather than a stock fitting forced into it, and trunk sizing worked out from the load rather than from whatever fits between the joists.
It is not a glamorous part of the job and it is invisible the day the drywall goes on, which is exactly why it is worth paying attention to while it is still visible.
Deciding the system at the plan stage
Gas furnace, heat pump, dual fuel or all-ductless is a decision with consequences for the electrical service, the venting, the mechanical space and the duct layout. All four are inexpensive to arrange at the plan stage and costly to change once framing is up.
It also interacts with the envelope. A tightly built, well insulated house has a much smaller load than its square footage suggests, and sizing off square footage alone routinely produces equipment that is far too big. Oversized equipment short cycles, controls humidity badly and wears out sooner.
Bring us in early and this is a half-hour conversation. Bring us in at drywall and it is a compromise.
